The story of The Firebird Oven
Our truck was hand-built by Rich and Lyn from The English Caravan Company who specialise in teardrop caravan pods and caravan catering conversions. After explaining what we wanted, they designed and hand-built the trailer from scratch, insulated our 1m oven inside and even hand-turned the wooden side-lights.
Make & Model
It is a hand-built 1950s-style teardrop caravan trailer with a wood-fired oven built into it.
We specialise in wood-fired dishes - this can be anything from Neapolitan-style pizzas, to box-baked camembert, to slow-roasted meat brioche rolls. We are very flexible in our menu so usually work with what fits the event the best. We also do private artisan bread-making, wood-fired cooking and pizza-making classes for events or celebrations.
Anyone who appreciates locally and ethically sourced food that we take time and care over to prepare….! For example, our pizza dough takes 3 days to make and we take a lot of care over the selection of our ingredients, plus our pizzas our hand-stretched and then baked right in front of the customer - so anyone who loves how much we're putting into their food is always very much appreciated!
Probably our pizzas (we are trained artisan bakers so our dough is 100% sourdough and the perfect blend of soft chew and crust!) or our slow-roasted meat rolls. We slow-roast our pulled pork in our oven for 7 hours and it tastes delicious!
